As a Sydney-based artist with experience in design and ceramics, I explore the human condition through sculpture. My work captures movement and transformation, reflecting life's ever-changing paths and new experiences. Transitioning to ceramics has enriched my artistic expression, offering a new medium and therapeutic outlet, embodying life's beauty and unpredictability.

For three decades, I have engaged deeply in various forms of art. My journey began with designing unique custom garments and dance costumes, transforming imaginative concepts into tangible creations. I also found joy in painting with watercolours, acrylics, and oils.

Five years ago, I discovered clay, adding a new dimension to my art. After completing my Certificate 3, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma in ceramics, I have developed a vibrant body of work reflecting my experiences and artistic philosophy. Art is a therapeutic medium for me, especially in managing my movement disorder, severe restless leg syndrome. My condition, characterised by constant movement, inspires my work, leading me to create pieces that capture motion using fluid glazing techniques.

The name "Twist of Kate" effectively captures the core of my creative essence; it reflects the unpredictable, twist of fate of life and the nature of working with ceramics. In ceramics, much like in life, the outcomes are often unsure and filled with endless possibilities.

I sculpt realistic to abstract forms and welcome collaborations that push creative boundaries. Follow me on Instagram @twist_of_kate_ or visit my Gallery page for updates.
